In May 2009 Lexmark introduced the X200 Series desktop MFPs, starting at £145 ($220 USD). The X203 was released in all markets except in N. America, while the X204 was made available worldwide. Both were OEM-rated at 24 ppm (letter) with a monthly duty cycle of 10,000 pages. The only difference between the two models was the X204 included a high speed fax function and 30-sheet automatic document feeder in addition to their standard print/copy/scan features.
The supplies set is made up of a 2,500 (2.5K) standard page yield toner cartridge (both return and non-return versions) and a separate 25,000 (25K) page yield drum unit. Both the hopper and waste bin sections of the OEM replacement cartridge will accommodate a higher than OEM toner load without modification. If filled with the correct toner gram weight and equipped with Static Control’s 6,000 (6K) page yield chip the cartridge can be used as a higher yielding (6k) cartridge.
Printers ship with a 1,500 (1.5K) page yield starter cartridge that is identical to the 2.5K page yield replacement cartridge, but filled with less toner. These starter cartridges can be used as either a 2.5K or 6K page yield cartridge when the corresponding chip is used and the cartridge is filled with the appropriate toner load. Printers will not print with a chip missing from the toner cartridge.
